Marriage of Jean MacBeath Tulloch to Harold J. Brock

Jean MacBeath Tulloch was born on the 2 October 1887, York Street, Launceston, Tasmania. The second eldest daughter of Lindsay Tulloch and Jeannie Innes Logie MacBeath. She died on the 23 February 1963, Hobart, Tasmania and left a will with a gross value of £89,458.

Lindsay Tulloch appointed Harold J. Brock as executor of his will. His daughter, Jean MacBeath Tulloch had generously volunteered to give up any share of her father's will having been suitably provided for by her husband.

Reading the wills of both parents I was able to establish that she was the daughter who married Harold J. Brock, born about 1887, Richmond, Tasmania and died on the 22 June 1941, Hobart, Tasmania age 54. They were married on the 4 July 1918 at Scots Church, Melbourne.

They had two sons and two daughters. Sadly, both of the sons were killed during separate operations in Europe with the Royal Australian Airforce during World War 2.

Their children:

1. Jean Georgina Brock (Judy) was born in October 1919, and died at Stoke Street, Hobart, Tasmania. She married Reginald Abbot Lewis who was born on the 28 December 1912, at Kew, Victoria. I obtained the name of the husband from will of her sister, Meg Abbot Brock Lewis. His date of birth was taken from online Army records; he was a Major in 2/1 Field Ambulance and was discharged in 1946.

Children:
Reginald James Lewis. This is the name of the grandson mentioned in Jean MacBeath Brock's will. She also recorded that her estate to be split in equal shares to her grandchildren - none of them mentioned by name.

2. Henry James Brock was born on the 23 January 1922 and died during operations in Europe on the 27 Feb 1945. He was a Flying Officer with the RAAF and is buried in Hune Churchyard, Denmark. Grave 208. You can obtain Roll of Honour details, RAAF Casualty Information and Access to Personal Service Records through this link. Henry James Brock 1922-1945

3. Harold Eric Brock was born on the 9 August 1923 and died during operations in Europe on the 10 August 1944. He was a Warrant Officer with the RAAF and is buried in Hanover War Cemetery, Germany. Grave 10.E.8. You can obtain Roll of Honour details, RAAF Casualty Information and Access to Personal Service Records through this link. Harold Eric Brock 1923-1944

4. Meg Abbot Brock Lewis, died on the 21 February 1971 at 2 Mawhera Ave, Sandy Bay, Tasmania – she never married. I found her will when searching for Abbot Lewis. She died intestate and a simple will was agreed through the courts. I haven't been able to establish her date of birth.
